John Derse, located in Charlotte, NC, is a Senior Partner and leads Mercer Health Provider Advisory, Mercer’s health care industry vertical. His consulting is in the area of People Strategy which includes strategy, alignment/change management and workforce analytics and rewards providing clients with "end to end" strategic advice concerning the design, implementation and operation of human capital and the HR function.
John’s clients include some of the largest health systems and academic medical centers in the South and Midwest. John has also partnered with organizations and been involved in innovative work for a broad range of clients across various industries, including financial services, consumer products, retail, manufacturing and distribution, entertainment.
John has been at Mercer for over 28 years. During that time he has held a variety of business leadership positions within Mercer since rejoining the firm in 1997, including global leader for Business Transformation Solutions, Midwest Zone Leader, Chicago Market Leader and global leader for Human Capital Strategy.
Prior to rejoining Mercer, John was a partner with an international management consulting firm, where he helped clients implement complex change programs to meet their long-term strategic objectives.
John holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Lawrence University. He is involved in numerous civic and charitable activities and until recently was a Trustee at the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation.
