Current Responsibilities

Steven Capace is currently the managing director and co-leader of Marsh’s US Government Contracting Practice. In this role, he specializes in helping clients understand and mitigate the unique insurance, financial, operational, administrative, and legal risks that contractors operating in the government contractor, aerospace, and defense industries often experience. 

Experience

Steve joined Marsh in early 2021 and brings more than 30 years of experience to the firm. Steve has a unique background in domestic and international business and finance, investment and legal advisory services, risk mitigation, crisis management, regulatory and compliance matters, government contracting, and general corporate matters. He is an expert in the practical, legal, and regulatory frameworks applicable to federal government contractors, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense Base Act (DBA). During his tenure in the industry, Steve served as general counsel, secretary and senior investment advisor for a private equity company located in Washington DC where he was directly responsible for all legal, risk management, business and strategic aspects of the company’s rapidly growing portfolio of holdings and investments, including several government contractor businesses. He also served as an associate in the New York office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP for ten years where he was a member of the Business and Finance Group specializing in financial restructuring, distressed investing, leveraged finance and mergers and acquisitions.
