Meet Our Race Advisory Council

Oct 26, 2020

In the wake of George Floyd's death, Marsh & McLennan made eight commitments to action to combat systemic racism and create change within our own company.

One of our commitments was to create a Race Advisory Council, with an initial focus on the Black community. The group will advise the Executive Committee, to make sure that diverse perspectives are considered in decision-making, especially decisions that affect our colleagues. This goes beyond our racial equity work and considers how our business can embed racial equity in all that we do.

The Coucil's initial activity includes influencing our approach to, and execution of, each of the eight Leading the Change commitments, including allocation of the $5 million commitment to organizations that advocate for Black equity, the creation of professional development programs, and hiring more Black colleagues at every level. They will also identify key issues that influence Black colleagues' experiences across Marsh & McLennan and recommend how to address those issues. The group's work will be supported by key stakeholders and experts, particularly our Inclusion & Diversity teams, and will be informed by the latest data and information from across the company.

We are delighted to introduce the 14 colleagues who now make up the Race Advisory Council and will serve on a rotating basis. They represent each of our businesses and functions, and have a wide range of work and life experiences, across industries and around the world.
