Telemedicine Is Here To Stay

Digital health has had a good pandemic. People flocked to telemedicine and well-being apps during waves of outbreaks and lockdowns: for example, in the US, virtual consultations as a proportion of total outpatient visits spiked from less than 0.01 percent before the pandemic to 69 percent in mid-April 2020, before subsiding to 21 percent in July.

Many users – including employees – plan to continue utilizing virtual care to save time and money. This year’s edition of the Health on Demand survey by Mercer Marsh Benefits’ Health on Demand survey found that employees view telemedicine and other digital health innovations even more positively than before the pandemic, and increasingly look to employers to provide access.
